Celebrating Circularity with Global Recycling Day and Day of Zero Waste

The call to action for a sustainable future continues as two global initiatives spotlight the importance of circularity and waste reduction: Global Recycling Day (18th of March) and the UN’s International Day of Zero Waste (30th of March). These observances emphasise the critical role of recycling and zero-waste practices in addressing global sustainability challenges.

Global Recycling Day: March 18, 2025

Established in 2018, Global Recycling Day highlights the importance of recycling as the “Seventh Resource” that preserves natural resources and reduces CO2 emissions. This year, it calls for individuals, businesses and governments worldwide to adopt sustainable recycling practices. From local clean-up events to educational workshops, this day encourages everyone to “think resource, not waste” and embrace recycling as a cornerstone of the circular economy.

UN’s International Day of Zero Waste: March 30, 2025

Facilitated by UNEP and UN-Habitat, this annual event focuses on reducing waste generation and promoting sustainable consumption. The day inspires action across industries to transition toward circularity and sustainable production.
