Press Release
Cuijk, the Netherlands, October 2026 – MBP Solutions has started construction of a new bio-oil upgrading plant in Cuijk, the Netherlands. With an annual processing capacity of approximately 60,000 tonnes, the facility will upgrade waste- and residue-based bio-oils for renewable fuel applications. The first phase is expected to become operational during the second half of 2027.
The plant will use proven technologies to remove water, ash, metals, and other contaminants, enabling challenging bio-oils to meet downstream customer specifications. Designed for flexibility and relatively small batches, the facility will serve markets including marine biofuels, biodiesel, HVO (renewable diesel), sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) feedstocks and bio-heating.
“Renewable fuel producers increasingly need access to sustainable waste- and residue-based feedstocks, but many of these materials require upgrading before they can be used efficiently. By combining our international sourcing network, product expertise and customer relationships with new processing capabilities, we can turn challenging bio-oils into valuable renewable fuel feedstocks,” says Jens S. Jacobsen, Partner and Chief Sales Officer, MBP Solutions.
Strategically located in the Netherlands, the facility will offer truck and barge access and an integrated laboratory for quality control. All required construction and environmental permits have been obtained.
The Cuijk plant represents an important step in MBP’s strategy to expand from by-product management and trading into physical upgrading, creating additional value for suppliers and customers.
