Celebrating Global Omega-3 Day with Sustainable By-product Management

Join our teams around the world as we celebrate Global Omega-3 Day with the GOED network!
Started in 2021, the 3rd of March has been an important annual milestone to call attention to EPA and DHA Omega-3’s. This day gives us an opportunity to share details about the important health benefits of Omega-3 to our network.
Omega-3’s are a type of fatty acid and there are two main types of marine Omega-3s in the diet – EPA and DHA. They are naturally found in marine products such as fatty fish and microalgae. At MBP Solutions, we ensure that excess Omega-3 is put to best use in various animal feed applications, returning these nutritional residues to the food chain and contributing to the circular economy.
By-product Solutions for high quality feed and healthy animals
Omega-3 fish oil from MBP Solutions can be used for sows and piglets. We have successively run tests on farms where we have seen heavier piglet at weaning and less piglet mortality after farrowing. The positive effects of omega-3 addition for sows include:
- Newborn piglets are more vital and lower mortality 1-3 days after birth
- Positive effect on the immune system
- Improved sow fertility
- Heavier piglets at weaning
