Growth at MBP Solutions
Historically the business world has focused on the demands of shareholders rather than stakeholders and particularly on growth: growth in income and profitability.
Growth, however, generates positive momentum throughout a business. It makes a company an attractive place to work, helps to attract and retain talent and provides greater opportunity for personal and career development. In turn, an engaged and talented workforce will generate improved products, services and business performance resulting in, amongst many other things, increased customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Throughout MBP Solutions, as a member of the UN Global Compact and fully committed to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we are making sure that our growth is sustainable, responsible and relevant. What we do has a direct positive impact on the planet. So the more that we can grow, the more we can contribute to the future that we all want.
Of the five main Values visuals we have developed, our Growth icon was one of the more difficult ones. Virtually every icon for growth includes either a graph, an arrow, a rocket or a plant – or some sort of combination.
This time, we adopted a simple yet clean icon that was pretty conventional with a professional, business feel to it.
MBP’S growth Statement
What matters most, however, is our definition of MBP’s Growth value that sits with the icon. In particular the phrase: “in order to improve and enhance every aspect of our business”. Growth for MBP Solutions is way, way deeper than just financial metrics and performance. It embraces knowledge, relationships, systems, processes, culture – quite literally we want to improve and enhance everything we possibly can to make ourselves stronger and better.
The value of GROWTH
Growth is defined as “the process of developing or of increasing in size” or “an increase in the ability of an economy or business to produce goods and services”.
“The shift to lifelong learning is absolutely essential. As the pace of technological change quickens, we need to be sure that employees are keeping up with the right skills to thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. That applies to both technical and soft skills. There will be changes in both areas.” – Zvika Krieger, Head of Technology Policy and Partnerships, World Economic Forum
If you look at our WHERE, growth is implicit. To get to where we want to be we will all need to go on a growth journey and support each other en route. Our core MBP Values – Integrity, Diversity, Innovation, Growth and Sustainability – will all play a significant part in shaping and supporting our personal and corporate growth journeys. To be “globally recognised as the go-to partner” we want and need to be bigger and better than we are now. But growth for us isn’t only about being able to handle more biological by-products for more clients in more territories and markets and increasing our overall scale and efficiency of our operations
It’s also about having a growth mindset and applying this to everything we do. Growth therefore also involves change, curiosity, learning, mistakes and more. So it can be uncomfortable as well as exciting; especially as the pace of change is constantly accelerating in response to the rapid advances happening in the worlds of science and technology where we operate.
“It’s not the strongest species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the most responsive to change.” – Charles Darwin, Naturalist
